I had this great idea to edit the bio section of my Facebook profile, but it only allows 100 characters… No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t sum up ‘me’ in so few characters.
But, I do want you to know a bit about me, my passions, and what makes me tick!
First, and most important, is my relationship with God and my undeserving salvation through Jesus Christ. This is WHO I am. I am His.
Beyond that, I am very blessed to be married to Michael, born an Aussie, who is now a naturalized US citizen. Michael is active duty USAF and we are currently living in Alaska. We’ll celebrate 16 years this spring!
I also homeschool our three amazing children. Family is incredibly important to us and we spend a lot of time together. We try to visit other family as often as we are able. I get this question often – so I’ll just answer it: Yes, we visit Australia. We try to go every couple of years and we do take the children. They need to spend time with their family too!
It’s no secret that I have been plagued with major illnesses for most of my adult life. At 21, shortly after a very serious diagnosis, I began really trying to learn as much as I could about natural health and wellness. We have implemented many things over the years to increase our wellness, reduce toxins, enhance our real nutrition, and be better stewards of our bodies.
Over the last several years, health and nutrition have become a very big passion in my life. I’m always eager to talk about anything related to keeping our bodies healthy and well, and homemaking tips and tricks to make it easier. Though I am not an expert, I enjoy teaching others what I have learned, and sharing our personal experiences.
I am also a lover of craft! I enjoy sewing, crocheting, cross-stitch, and most other crafty things!
Getting outdoors and exploring is also a favorite activity. This is a huge perk of living in Alaska. There’s so much to do here, we’ll never be able to experience it all before we leave.
I am a loyal friend. As a military wife, I don’t make lifetime bonds easily. I have learned over the years to guard my time and my friendships well. The close friendships that I do have are well worth it! I am blessed to have some very special ladies in my life, and don’t take that lightly.
I am genuine. I keep it real. I don’t share or endorse things that I don’t believe in or support. If I post it, share it, or talk about it, it’s genuinely me – no one will ever pay me to sway my opinion!!
While I might be a homemaking, homeschooling mama, I am not a homebody! It’s a bit ironic, actually. I enjoy getting out of the house often. I definitely enjoy a couple of down days per week, but would prefer being on the go the rest of the time.
I really enjoy giving. I love to give gifts and food to others. I don’t always have the ability to spend time with those who need encouragement or love, but I do have the ability to write a note, pick up a gift, cook a meal, or create something. I love blessing others in this way!
Though I am not a single parent (kudos to those of you single moms working your tails off to make a good life for your kids), I have done more than my share of solo parenting over the years. This is simply a byproduct of being married to someone who is in the military. Yes, it’s hard.
I am not strong or brave or patient or any of the things I am sometimes accused of being. It is only with God that I am able to do any of the things that I do. While I may seem brave or strong during a deployment or while battling major medical situations, it is not my strength that you are seeing. God makes it possible for me to jump each hurdle this earthly life bestows.
I want to know about you. What are your passions and talents?
