You know that saying “when in Rome, do as the Romans do?” Well, it applies to country-ville, too!! I find that each time I go home to visit my family in the deep south, I turn into a bona fide southern gal. I get lazy in my speech and find my southern drawl rears it’s head and I fit right in with the rest of the south!! Now, I’m left trying to refine my proper speech and grammar… oy vey!
I also have my 15 year old brother visiting for the next few weeks. He made the trip home from Florida with me. I’m enjoying having some one-on-one time with him, but have found that it’s a bit tricky to plan a menu when you suddenly have a 15 year old boy in the house – he eats A LOT.
My menu for this week is planned out, but may have to be changed around a bit to accommodate Michael’s arrival home! He is anticipating arriving sometime mid-day Friday!! Can I let you in on a little secret…. I’m a little nervous. It’s weird. We’ve been married 10 years and I feel all school-girl giddy that he’s coming home! I’m nervous about what to wear and how to act when I first see him (though the emotion of the moment will probably totally override everything). I feel a bit silly being so nervous about being with someone I’m so comfortable with.
Anyway, on to the menu!
Breakfasts – banana chocolate chip muffins, cold cereal, buttermilk pancakes, homemade yogurt with lazy granola
Lunches – leftovers, pb&j, fruit, veggies, cheese or random other items thrown together
Snacks – fresh fruit and veggies, breads/muffins/cookies (when it’s not too hot to turn on the oven), crackers and cheese
Dinners
Monday – Tacos served with fresh garden lettuce, tomatoes, homemade salsa, black olives, homemade sour cream (recipe tomorrow) and shredded cheese
Tuesday – Aussie chicken, brown rice, steamed veggies and bread with butter
Wednesday – Fish packets on the grill (recipe soon), green beans, steamed carrots, bread with butter
Thursday – Hotdogs on the grill, chips
Friday – Spaghetti, green salad, bread/rolls
Past Friday is up in the air at this point. Michael will most likely be severely jet lagged and there’s the whole re-adjustment that we’ll all be going through so I have no idea what our schedule will look like.

Great to see you back!
Lol on the Southern grammar! My grandma loved when we lived in the South and had the drawl. She would ask us to “speak Southern to me”.
Looks like a great week! We love the Aussie chicken!
