Peanut butter and banana smoothies

A couple of weeks ago, in an effort to begin using up some of my stockpile of peanut butter, I threw some smoothie ingredients in the blender and added some peanut butter! It actually came out nicely, so I began playing with it to get it just right and we now love it.

I really think you’ll enjoy this one!

What you need:
~ 2 ripe bananas (not frozen)
~ 2 cups ice
~ 8 oz. plain yogurt (I use homemade yogurt*)
~ ½ cup peanut butter

Place all ingredients in blender and give it a whirl until it’s the consistency you like. I blend mine until completely smooth so the kids don’t have issues with sucking up big chunks in their straws!

This recipe makes 32 oz.

Variation: Replace the unfrozen bananas and ice with 4-5 frozen bananas. This gives it a stronger banana flavor and since the bananas are frozen, you can leave out the ice.

* My yogurt tends to be a little thinner than store bought, so you might need to add a few ounces of water (or whey, if you have it) during blending to get it to the proper consistency.
