Can I be real for a moment? . . . . This deployment (we still have a bit more than 3 months left) has been so rough for me. I feel like most days I’m just getting by. I often feel overwhelmed with all of my regular responsibilities compounded upon all of the extras I’m currently taking care of with Michael gone. And then there’s the whole moving to Turkey thing!!
And yesterday was just “one of those days.” Truthfully, one of the worst days I’ve had in a LONG time. It seemed as though the kids were falling apart one by one and I got to a point where I really didn’t know if I could handle it. So, I did something I’m not really accustomed to doing – I asked for help. I texted our babysitter with a “mayday” of sorts.
“Help – are you available one evening in the next few days?” She responded that she could come the very next evening (TODAY)! Normally, I reserve the babysitter for appointments and outings where I don’t really want to take the kids, but I felt this was necessary for my sanity!
So, as I write this, I am sitting in Panera with a yummy sandwich and iced mocha! I’ve also had the pleasure of making a trip to Costco and doing some shopping at Target all by myself this evening! I’m already feeling refreshed – sad that Panera closes in just 15 minutes, but it has been a nice night nonetheless!
My babysitter – she’s a finer thing and a such wonderful blessing on a dark day!

Oh Im so happy for you. I pray that the deployment will end soon. I’ve been there and done that!

Jessica´s last blog ..What whould you do with it?
Good for you!!! I think asking for help is hard, but I’m always blessed when I do it.
So glad you enjoyed your night. Panera is NEVER a bad thing!
Deployments are hard anyway…and then when you have “one of those days” it just makes the whole world seem to be falling apart. Sounds like today is going better. Praying that “those days” don’t come again and that the next 3 months fly by for you!!!
I do NOT know how you do what you do. I say use that babysitter whenever you feel like it!
